Ekatmik Vikas Sanstha works with farmers, tribal communities, and schools in Thane and Palghar — weaving together livelihoods, ecological restoration, and education since 1997.
Ekatmik Vikas Sanstha (EVS) is a registered nonprofit development organisation working at the intersection of ecology and livelihood. Initiated in 1997 by professionals with a social work background, EVS has spent over two decades serving farmers, tribal communities, and Zilla Parishad schools across Bhiwandi tahsil in Thane district.
Through innovative, community-led strategies, EVS creates sustainable livelihoods through fruit plantations and ecological regeneration — building soil quality, increasing groundwater, and sequestering carbon while lifting marginalised families out of poverty.
Over 1,00,000 fruit trees planted in Bhiwandi tahsil — creating income for 300+ marginalised farmers while restoring soil, groundwater, and local biodiversity.
Repairing and renovating Zilla Parishad schools in Palghar and Raigad districts — providing smart TVs, storybooks, globes, and sports equipment to children.
Supporting the Macchimar Society at Uran, Raigad to develop infrastructure and strengthen the livelihoods of coastal fishing communities.
Supporting the Government of India's Dangi Cow Breeding and Research Centre in Igatpuri, Nashik — preserving indigenous cattle breeds and indigenous knowledge.
State-level facilitation and capacity building training programmes for community-based organisations and NGOs — sharpening skills and strengthening civil society.
Creating dense, multi-layered native forests using the Miyawaki method — accelerating ecological restoration and carbon sequestration in degraded land.
To build the capacities of farmers, tribes, and marginalised communities towards empowerment, self-reliance, secured livelihood, and sustainable development — so they can thrive on their own terms.
EVS works towards a society with zero hunger, dignity of life, ecological balance, gender equality, and quality education for all — achieved through sustained, ground-level programmatic interventions.
